Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

PricesDeck is run by DevNwamini in Lagos, Nigeria ("we", "us"). We are responsible for your personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Contact us at support@pricesdeck.com.

2. What we collect

Your account

• Your email address and the username you choose.
• Your password, if you set one. It is stored only as a secure hash by our database provider; we can't see it.
• If you sign in with Google: your email address and basic profile details Google shares with us. We don't get access to your Google account, contacts or files.

What you post (public)

• Prices you report: the item, the market or shop, the price, the kind of price, and any note.
• Markets and shops you add, including the spot you pin on the map.
• Photos you upload of price tags, receipts, products or shops.
• Your confirmations ("Confirm" / "Wrong") and the leaderboard points they earn.

These are shown publicly with your username, because that's what makes the prices useful and trustworthy. Please don't put personal details in notes or photos.

Private to you

• Items you save, price alerts you set, and your notification settings.
• Reports you flag (the person you flagged never sees it was you).
• If you use the app and allow notifications: a push token that lets us send notifications to your phone.

Location

If you allow it, your phone or browser shares your location so we can show how far each market is and find stores near you. This is used on your device and is not stored on our servers. The only locations we keep are the market and shop pins people add on purpose.

Usage and errors

• Anonymous page-view statistics (which pages are visited, roughly from which country, on what kind of device) through Vercel Analytics. It uses no cookies and doesn't identify you.
• Error reports when something breaks: the error message and the page it happened on, so we can fix it.

3. Why we use it

• To run your account and let you sign in (performing our agreement with you).
• To show prices, markets and photos to everyone (performing the service you asked for).
• To send the price alerts and notifications you turned on (your consent; you can switch them off any time).
• To keep the service accurate and safe: reviewing flagged reports, removing spam and fake prices, fixing errors (our legitimate interest in a reliable service).

We don't sell your data, show you third-party ads, or use your data for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

Only the companies that run parts of PricesDeck for us, and only for that purpose:

• Supabase: database, accounts and photo storage.
• Vercel: hosts the website and provides anonymous analytics.
• Resend: sends price-alert and account emails.
• Expo: delivers push notifications to the app.
• Google: only if you choose "Continue with Google"; also shows maps in the Android app.
• Apple: shows maps in the iPhone app.

Some of these providers store data outside Nigeria. They are bound by contracts and security standards that protect your data. We may also share data if the law requires it.

5. How long we keep it

• Your account, saved items and alerts: until you delete your account.
• Prices, markets and photos you posted: kept as part of the public price history. When an account is deleted, its prices, photos and votes are deleted with it.
• Error reports: only until the problem is fixed, then our admins clear them.

6. Your rights and choices

• Edit a price within 24 hours (before anyone votes on it), or delete your reports and photos any time.
• Turn notifications off in the app under Me → Notifications, or remove price alerts on the Saved page.
• Location is only used if you allow it, and you can turn it off in your phone or browser settings.
• Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything linked to it: email support@pricesdeck.com from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days.

If you're not happy with how we handled your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).

7. Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database access is locked down so each person can only change their own content, and only our admins can moderate. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong password you don't use elsewhere.

8. Children

PricesDeck is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If it's a big change, we'll tell you on the site or in the app. See also our Terms of Use.
